Accessory Designers Robot and Brucling Grabs Fashion by the Bowtie

Three words that come to mind when I think of Robot and Brucling are humble, spiritual and FASHION. I will even go a little further and say I believe they are Fashion Icons in the making. The Accessory Designers are young but talented and are a force to be reckoned with. I had the luxury to sit down with the Designers and we spoke about their background, competitors their long term goals and most importantly their new line.

Tell me a little about yourself?

Robot: "I am originally from Roxbury, Massachusetts, which is a Boston urban area. I am 23 years old. I am what one would consider a dreamer. I am in my own head a lot. It has been said that I am Robotic and Systematic, hence my name Robot. I have always had a passion for design. I took some coursed in High School and knew that eventually I wanted to have a Fashion Line. My background originated from high end retail (Ralph Lauren and Valentino) as well as styling."

Brucling: "I am from the Boston area as well Mattapan, Massachusetts to be exact. I have been sketching and designing since I was 5 years old. I have a passion for fine arts and special attention to detail. I have a background in high end retail. I used to work at Nordstroms."

Fashion for A Great Cause

One of the most heart sinking episodes of Project Runway is now one of the most inspirational. When designer Mondo Guerra decided to let the world know his HIV+ status I watched and felt chills up my spine. Having worked for a not-for-profit as an HIV Case Manager a while back I was able to come in contact with some amazing people. I was also able to gain a better knowledge about this deadly disease. This disease doesn't discriminate. It knows no race, religion or sexual orientation. Mondo has taken his HIV status and his fashion sense to bring attention to a great cause. The t-shirt shown is one of Guerra's design and $20 of the proceeds will go to amFAR, an organization that focuses on AIDS research.

Kanye West named 2010 Stylemaker

During the 14th Annual ACE Awards (Cipriani 42nd Street on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 in New York) Kanye was named 2010 Stylemaker of the year by the Accessories Council. Over the past few years Kanye's seemingly irrational outburst and arrogance have been the focus of severe scrutiny. With all of the negative feedback set aside one cannot argue that Kanye is known for being one of the most fashionable men of our era. Whether you are or aren't a fan of his musicality Kanye consistently goes against the grain with his fashion choices. Some may say his fashion sense is loud and obnoxious matching his attitude and others will argue he is "different".
