Fab Finds Under Fifty

During one of my accessories craze I ran across this necklace at Aldo Accessories Store. I instantly fell in love with this necklace because it is truly a statement piece. The necklace is very versatile and unique. I did not grab it at the time (who knows why) but am ordering it as I type (on another tab). It is currently priced at $14.98 (and was originally $20). The tribal-influenced necklace features coils with a sterling silver tarnished finished along with glass pieces, and shiny stone additions. The necklace can be purchased here. Thoughts Lovies?

Amazing Accessories: MK Watch

I absolutely love American Designer Michael Kors. There is always something for everyone in all of his collections and this watch is no different. Although it has a masculine feel the rose gold look holds no bars and is quite feminine. The high shine finish gives the watch a crisp style. Priced at $250 this watch is definitely a must have. Sidebar: All women need a classic watch (and this serves up classic with a twist). This will be one of my many Fall purchases. You can get this timeless piece at Net-A-Porter.

Marvelous Misses-Jada Pinkett Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith has been looking absolutely stunning (not that she doesn't almost always look fab). I do believe that these two fits are ranking as my faves. Could it be the sleek, neat and perfectly placed pony tail or her amazing legs. Whatever it may be she is working it... Jada's fuchsia shirt dress complimented her Jimmy Choos making this look my ultimate fave (simple and glamorous). Jada sparkled in Stella McCartney and Tito Pedrini jewels. This is the epitome of simple but chic. Below are some more sleek and chic looks from JPS. Learn.....

Muff Mouthing Off: Are Those Real?

I received a call from my sister in law yesterday and she asked how someone could tell if pearls were real or fake. I have two different sets of fresh cultured water pearls. My mom and her mom (my grandmother) are heavy into pearls. I was able to give my sister in law the information she needed to determine whether she had real or fake pearls and I will share that same info with you. There are several ways you can find out if you've been dooped.

Tooth Test
Rub the pearls lightly along the biting edge of your upper front teeth. If they feel gritty or sandy, they are real pearls. If they feel smooth, they are probably imitations.

Friction Test
Take two pearls then lightly rub one against the other. If they feel gritty or sandy, they are real pearls. If they feel smooth, they are not real.

Surface Magnification
Magnify the surfaces of the pearls with a magnifier. If they look grainy, the beads are imitation pearls. If they look scaly, maze-like, they are real pearls

Flaw Test
Examine the pearls for flaws. If they appear flawless and unnatural perfection, they might be imitation.

Matching Test
Observe the whole pearl jewelry piece, their shape, luster, size, and color. Imitations can perfectly match while real pearls tend to be variations.

Overtone Test
Imitation is lack of overtone. Real pearls have various overtones.

Drilled-Hole Test
The pearl nacre coating is thicker than the coating of imitations. Therefore, you may find a clear dividing line between the nacre and nucleus from the real pearl's drilled-hole.
