Naomi Campbell Honored by UK Fashion Council

Naomi Campbell was honored by the UK Fashion Council this past week for her influence in Fashion over the past 25+ years. The UK Fashion Council stated that Campbell has been a "hugely influential ambassador for British fashion." Four time winner of the Council's Designer of the year prize Alexander McQueen, who took his own life in February, was also honored for his career and contribution to the fashion industry.

Accessory Designers Robot and Brucling Grabs Fashion by the Bowtie

Three words that come to mind when I think of Robot and Brucling are humble, spiritual and FASHION. I will even go a little further and say I believe they are Fashion Icons in the making. The Accessory Designers are young but talented and are a force to be reckoned with. I had the luxury to sit down with the Designers and we spoke about their background, competitors their long term goals and most importantly their new line.

Tell me a little about yourself?

Robot: "I am originally from Roxbury, Massachusetts, which is a Boston urban area. I am 23 years old. I am what one would consider a dreamer. I am in my own head a lot. It has been said that I am Robotic and Systematic, hence my name Robot. I have always had a passion for design. I took some coursed in High School and knew that eventually I wanted to have a Fashion Line. My background originated from high end retail (Ralph Lauren and Valentino) as well as styling."

Brucling: "I am from the Boston area as well Mattapan, Massachusetts to be exact. I have been sketching and designing since I was 5 years old. I have a passion for fine arts and special attention to detail. I have a background in high end retail. I used to work at Nordstroms."

Nicki Minaj Celebrates 26th Birthday

Nicki Minaj celebrated her 26th Birthday at Tao in Las Vegas and had the baddest chicks in tow. In attendance were both Cassie and Amber Rose. Cassie wore a Herve Leger Contrast-Trim dress priced at $1,450. Nicki opted for a Swarovski covered bodysuit designed by the Blonds. It as been reported (according to Hollywood Life) that the one piece bodysuit took 5 people over 200+ hours to create and is adorned with over 4,000 crystals. Nicki paired her look with the infamous pair of Gianmarco Lorenzi platform pump (pictured below).

Bria Murpy New Face of Dark and Lovely

Bria Murphy, who is comedian Eddie Murphy's daughter, is the new spokesperson for Softsheen-Carson's Dark and Lovely Products. The 20-year-old-model, will start her new positions January 2011, when the official announcement from Softsheen-Carson is released. Murphy is currently signed to L.A. Models. CONGRATS! Lady GaGa has once again been named MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam spokesperson. This is GaGa's second year in a row as MAC's spokesperson. In addition she had eight wax figures unveiled at Madame Tussaud museums all over the world today including: Vegas, New York, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hong Kong and Shanghai. The statues reportedly have a combined cost of over $2.3 million. Who isnt goo-goo for Gaga?

J.A.M. Sunglasses: Couture Eyewear

I received a tweet from Stylist to the Stars Mr. Joe Exclusive (I had the pleasure of meeting him during NYFW) and there was a twitpic of one of the above pictured glasses. After seeing these it became evident that fashion and creativity knows no boundaries. I knew right away I had to check out the website and see what other creations would capture me. Designer Monique Dass initially debuted J.A.M. Sunglasses in August 2010 and for a recent launch I am speechless. J.A.M. Sunglasses named after her mother (Justina), sister ( Akeela) and herself (Monique) are sure to have heads turning and mouths drooling. The best part of it all is most of the glasses are UNISEX. Fashion for A Great Cause

One of the most heart sinking episodes of Project Runway is now one of the most inspirational. When designer Mondo Guerra decided to let the world know his HIV+ status I watched and felt chills up my spine. Having worked for a not-for-profit as an HIV Case Manager a while back I was able to come in contact with some amazing people. I was also able to gain a better knowledge about this deadly disease. This disease doesn't discriminate. It knows no race, religion or sexual orientation. Mondo has taken his HIV status and his fashion sense to bring attention to a great cause. The t-shirt shown is one of Guerra's design and $20 of the proceeds will go to amFAR, an organization that focuses on AIDS research.
