Essence Magazine Convtroversy

African American Magazine Essence recent decision to hire a Caucasian Fashion Director (Ellianna Placas) has caused some major uproar. Essence known for catering to the black community from hair and skin care to finanancial and relationship advice is now receiveing backlash from those who up until now were its major supporter. Upon hearing the news former fashion editor of Essence, Michaela Angela Davis, wasted no time utilizing the social networking site Facebook to express her feelings.

"It’s with a heavy heart I’ve learned Essence Magazine has engaged a white Fashion Director. I love Essence and I love fashion. I hate this news and this feeling. It hurts, literally. The fashion industry has historically been so hostile to black people–especially women....." What are your thoughts?

Throw It In The Bag-Salvatore Ferragamo

I just purchased these Salvatore Ferragamo Oxford Shoes from Imperfect Concept Boutique. I am so excited to receive them. The online purchase process was quick and easy (which I cannot say about all online stores)!!! Oxfords, tassles and navy are 3 of the "it" factors for Fall 2010 so the purchase was a no brainer.

Marvelous Misses-Jada Pinkett Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith has been looking absolutely stunning (not that she doesn't almost always look fab). I do believe that these two fits are ranking as my faves. Could it be the sleek, neat and perfectly placed pony tail or her amazing legs. Whatever it may be she is working it... Jada's fuchsia shirt dress complimented her Jimmy Choos making this look my ultimate fave (simple and glamorous). Jada sparkled in Stella McCartney and Tito Pedrini jewels. Fun Finds-Cosmetics

Ladies I am super excited about this find. When you were younger did you ever bug your parents about press on tattoos. Well those days have now been reinvented with a little flair. "Press On Eyeshadow" created by makeup artist Irina Iosilevich is sure to give you a promising "professional" look. While reading the directions I was surprised to see that the process was instantaneous. 1)smooth the design applique on your eyelid 2) press it into place to ensure that your color is distributed evenly 3)peel back and TADA. There are 27 kits to choose from. My two favorites are the zebra and leopard patterns. The EyeEnvy by Coloron kits start at $17.50 at sephora.com or coloronpro.com. I ordered a few more and am stoked to receive them.....WAIVERRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Victoria's Secret Newest Model

Jourdan the 19 year-old model who recently had a baby is now the newest face in your Victoria's Secret Catalogue. Bouncing right back from her pregnancy into pre-baby shape she is currently replacing Doutzen Kroes who is having a baby as well. She is remarkably fierce and I look forward to seeing her on the runway. WORK.......

Must Have Smell Goods-Coach

Coach has released its 2010 fragrance titled "Poppy". For those of you who are not familiar, a poppy is a flower from which Coach has based its fragrance. The main ingredients for this smell good is mandarin orange and freesia, jasmine, gardenia, water lily, sandalwood, virginia cedar, vanilla and marshmallow (yes marshmallow). I was recently out shopping and figured I would see what the latest fragrance smelled like....Not to shabby! I think I may like.

Leighton Meester looked absolutely stunning this Summer while promoting her next gig as Herbal Essence Ambassador. Her Pierre Hardy gold gladiator heels (priced at eur 325,000) were the perfect accessory to finalize her look. The Herve Leger dress (priced at 4,900) doesnt dissappoint either. Throw it in the Bag

With this FIRST installment of "Throw it in the Bag" I bring to you one of the most fascinating tops Ive seen in a while. I purchased this shirt while out with my sister yesterday and I am in love. I very rarely find items that I love and I was sold on this shirt at first sight. My birthday is rapidly approaching (September 6) and anyone who knows me knows that everything is a production. With that being said I have learned to be proactive and shop more than a day before an affair to lessen my shopping anxiety LOL. I have given this long sleeve woven tunic a WAIVERRRR! The color blocking (a huge 2011 trend), along with the braided neckline and belled sleeves have me in AWE! Oh the simple joys of shopping...

Sassy Stylish Shoes-Christian Louboutin

At some point this year I have vowed to make my first Christian Louboutin purchase. I have not up until this point because I have not seen a CL shoe that is set apart from something less expensive. However, the Christian Louboutin "Misfit" shoe has made me rethink my decision. Some say this shoe is overdone I say its PERFECT. I adore these shoes......they are drool worthy! Priced at $1,425 (only at Barneys) should one spend or save? Thoughts...

Amazing Accessories-Cartier Love Cuff

Some of you may have seen this cuff or something similar on the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Leigton Meester. The original bracelet known as the "love cuff" was created in the 1970's. The original collection was designed to represent everlasting love because of the small yet sturdy screw, which required an additional screwdriver to open and close it. Amber Rose (whom I adore) graces the cover of Hip-Hop weekly really let me down with this look. She is always stunning however, this bra look has me lost. That is all I will say....I am still TEAM AMBER!

Strike A Pose.....

In this issue of Strike a Pose its The Hills Stars Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari VS Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port. Hills Alum Lauren Conrad is wearing a sequined Mandalay minidress while Kristin opted for a one-shoulder Zuhair Murad dress and silver Louboutins. Whitney from The City has on a Matthew Williamson dress with Jimmy Choo shoes and Olivia (the girl we all love to hate) is wearing a fringe skirt with a Hermes oversized bag. So whats the verdict, who struck the pose?

Sassy Stylish Shoes-DVF

I am in love with this Dian Von Furstenberg sandal. I am not sure if it is the gold adorned hell, the multi-colored snake effect, the suede, the straps or the fact that it is a 4 1/2 " heel. Whatever it is that has me gagging I truly do not mind. This would be the perfect accessory to a color blocked dress (from 2011 resort collections) but it is unavailable for order....Keep checking Net-A-Porter to see if this shoe will be re-released.

Resort 2011 Collection Favorites

From Celine, Bottega Veneta, Burberry Prosum, to Emilio Pucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Donna Karan, and Chado Ralph Pucci none of these designers dissapoint. I wanted to showcase some of the hottest trends from color blocking, all white everything, patterns galore to short shorts.
