Tomorrow 12/1/10 is National AIDS Awareness Day . The World Health Organization established World AIDS Day in 1988. National AIDS Awareness is 24 hours to commemorate those who have died, acknowledge those who live and those who fight on the front lines of the battle against HIV/AIDS. The best gift anyone can give themselves is the gift of life.

Red Lips for the Holidays

Sometimes I can be completely random....and today is no different. While thinking of what to wear for New Years I decided I wanted RED lips. Anyone who has shopped for red lipstick/lip glass/lip tint knows that this is a task. When choosing the perfect shade it can be pretty intimidating. Picking the wrong color can look vulgar and cheap when its meant to look sexy, sophisticated and POWERFUL. Here are a few tips:

• Be sure it does not clash with your skin tone
• Be sure it does not make your teeth look yellow
• Be sure your eye shadows and cheek color of the overall face palette does not clash with the red lips.
• Blush should pick up the lipstick’s underlying tone
• If you never use a lip brush for any other shade of lipstick, purchase one for use with red lipsticks for a crisp, concise finish

Due to me being Medium-dark skin I am looking for dark red or red with a plum high gloss.

Fun Find: Haroshi Dunk SB

Haroshi used one of his old skateboard sneakers, a pair of Dunks to create a work of art. Haroshi makes his art pieces recycling old used skateboards. The Dunk, was built from the actual used skateboards from NIKE’s pro riders (P-ROD, LANCE MOUNTAIN, ERIC KOSTON, CORY KENNEDY, JUSTIN BROCK, BRIAN ANDERSON, DARYL ANGEL, DANIEL SHIMIZU, ELISSA STEAMER, CHET CHILDRESS, GRANT TAYLOR, HUNTER MURAIRA), as well as his own. In this piece there are hidden messages throughout the sneaker, one being "kick kick" and the other "sole in soul". Sole in Soul is not visible to the naked eye and fact an x-ray scan has to be used. Haroshi's work has me in awe. I have never seen a piece that I had to second guess the work, wondering if it was an actual sneaker or wood. BEAUTIFUL....Thoughts Lovies?

Color Blocking: Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj made an appearance on Regis and Kelly Live yesterday. She performed her hit single "Right Thru Me" off of her ablum "Pink Friday". Nicki looked great in a color blocked red, magenta and navy dress paired with knee boots and matching red tights. This is an example of color blocking done right. Kudos to Nicki for nailing this look because way too often she is extremely over the top. 2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Victoria's Secret Annual Fashion Show is known as the sexiest most over-the-top lingerie show you can ever imagine. Models to walk this years runway are Adriana Lima (My Favorite Angel), Rosie Hintington-Whiteley, Candice Swanepoel and Chanel Iman. Beyonce Hosts Party for Lorraine Schwartz

Marvelous Misses Beyonce Knowles hosted a party for Lorraine Scwhartz who is known to most as jeweler to the celebs. Lorraine Schwartz’s new 2BHappy jewelry collection celebration took place at LAVO in Manhattan Monday night.

It was a star studded event and attendees included: Tyson Beckord, Tina Knowles, Tinsley Mortimer, Estelle, Ashanti, Gayle King, Blake Lively, Jessica Rabbit, Mary J. Blige, Kim Kardashian and Patti Labelle to name a few.

Karl Lagerfeld for Macys

Infamous Coco Chanel Designer Karl Lagerfeld will design a capsule collection which will be a much more affordable line for frugal fashionistas at Macy's. As of late their have been tons of collaboration, Lanvin for H&M which officially launched this past week. Lagerfeld also collaborated with H&M back in 2004. Karl Lagerfeld's collection which is due to be released September 2011 and is set to hit 250 Macy's (worldwide), will offer a range from jeans to gowns and it will also be available online. The collection will be offered for a limited time only.

Fat Boys and 80's Trends

One of my favorite all time movies is the "Disorderlies" which features the Fat Boys. If you are unfamiliar with the Fat Boys here is some brief history:

Fat Boys were a Brooklyn born trio who emerged in the 1980's and became a successful hip-hop group. Members were Mark Morales a.k.a. "Prince Markie Dee", Damon Wimbley a.k.a. "Kool Rock-Ski" and Darren Robinson a.k.a. "Buff Love" a.k.a. "The Human Beat Box" (who passed away in 1995).

In honor of the Fat Boys I will share some of my favorite 80's trends....colored guess jeans, reebok classics ($54.11's), 8 Ball Jackets, Bamboo earrings, acid wash jeans and windbreaker pants. Most of these trends have resurfaced in the 21st Century.

American Music Awards Red Carpet

Lovies the AMA's are currently airing on CBS. They started at 8 pm and will continue until 11 pm. I would have began a post earlier however I was on the road....I decided to take a day trip home (NYC) and do some random fun things....(FAO Schwarz, Horse and Carriage Ride through Central Park as well as enjoy some great Brunch). Now that I am back I had to share some of the best and worse from the red carpet....I usually post my thoughts about who looked great and who failed miserably but tonight I will let you be the judge!!!! Thoughts?
